Thank You Everyone For A Great KKIFF2020

BY KKIFF · PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 · UPDATED SEPTEMBER 21, 2020

The KKIFF really hopes that you enjoyed watching its selection of movies for Sabah’s first on-line film festival and taking part in the five amazing webinars.

And what a team we have at the KKIFF who worked so well together to make this on-line festival a reality – and a success.  Thank you to everyone – you are the strength of the KKIFF.

There has been a lot for the KKIFF team to learn this year and we are very grateful to those who have helped us up the learning curve:

Mazrie (Synxsoft) – set up the webinars, trained us how to work with them and supervised the live events

Ronald (JuiceAPac) and Rendall – set up the on-line payment system for registration for CINEBALU ON-LINE – and worked through the demanding paperwork

Ronald put all the movies safely under the KKIFF’s care – and this was necessary to protect the films and also convince our sponsors and filmmakers that we were keeping their movies safe – as well as designing the CINEBALU ON-LINE website, with all the edits and corrections and alterations that are require

Ho Hock Doong – the programmer for the KKIFF for a second year – it was a difficult job this time because of the changing scene due to The Virus – so thank you, Ho, for rising to the challenge

Jasmine – worked hard on the KKIFF’s social media outreach with her particular energy

Yann (Dreamer Visual) – tirelessly designed our posters, with all the changes, adjustments, modifications that were required

Chris – set up the KKIFF’s call for submissions on FilmFreeway for both CINEBALU and the filmmakers’ competition.  (Please note that the filmmakers’ competition has been postponed to 2021)

Hazli, Kevin, Rendall, Joshua – this is the KKIFF’s core team of hard, reliable workers – thank you for your good humour and consistent contribution to the success of the KKIFF

Thanks to the filmmakers around South-East Asia who submitted their films to CINEBALU this year.  It is always amazing to see the products of that filmmaking energy that is whirling around this region.

The KKIFF2020 had two collaborations with other film festivals this year – another first for us.  Thanks to the Borneo Eco Film Festival for hosting the first of our webinars.  Their experience with webinars was so useful for us all.  Job well done!

And thanks also to Freedom Film Net for providing three short films for our CINEBALU ON-LINE programme and also for hosting a very interesting webinar with the directors of these films.

The webinars would not have been possible if many people had not agreed to take part.  Thank you to all of you – the moderators for their preparation and management of the discussions and the panellists for their willingness to share their ideas, experiences and perceptions.

Our sponsors are also to be given great thanks – without you, we would not be able to have the festival.  For the KKIFF2020, we want to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports.  We really appreciate your support for the KKIFF.

The Goethe-Institut Malaysia has been part of the KKIFF for many years now and we look forward to continuing to work together.

Other movies came through the Embassies of Argentina, Brazil and Italy and the NZ High Commission.  ASTRO also contributed a film to the CINEBALU ON-LINE programme.

Our thanks also to our media partners:  The Daily Express, KK12fm and Breeze magazine

So that’s it for the KKIFF2020!

We look forward to having you join us for the KKIFF2021.  In the cinema?  We hope so.
